I wrote this when i was ten..lol

It's a poem.silly, but at least my heart was in the right place! :P
Big tree,Small Tree
Green Tree,Tall tree,
All of you listen to me,
And i will tell you to love me[there I go again!]
As I am a friend of trees,
So give us fruit and give us oxygen,
But we have nothing to give you back,
With your trunk we build our shack,
With your fruit we have a snack,
So,listen to me,all of you,
Mango tree,peach tree,
Pine tree,Apple tree,
If we humans weren't so greedy,
what a beautiful place the world would be.

[Clearly,i hadn't heard of this thing called rhyme scheme back then :/]

Every one knows that diet and exercise together helps in losing weight. But we often starve ourselves to death trying to keep a few inches off our waistline. Instead of helping us lose weight, starvation encourages fat build up by slowing down our metabolism. Instead of beating the urge to eat, you can use it to your advantage by eating fat fighting foods. Here are some foods that might increase your fat fighting ability:

  1. Almonds (badam): According to study published in the International Journal of Obesity, dieters who ate 85 gm (around 3 ounces) of almonds everyday reduced their weight and body-mass index (BMI) by 18 percent compared with an 11 percent reduction in the non-almond dieters. These nuts are high in alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), which can accelerate your metabolism of fats. Also, almonds have high fiber content, protein and the good type of fat which satisfies your appetite very soon therefore you are less likely to have cravings and overeat. Eat a handful (not more than 12) everyday to get the benefits.

  2. Citrus fruits like berries, oranges, etc: According to a research done at Arizona State University, people who consume adequate quantities of vitamin C loaded fresh fruits like oranges, strawberries, raspberries, etc can oxidize 30% more fat while doing normal exercises than individuals with an inadequate quantity of Vitamin C consumption. Researchers found that the quantity of vitamin C in the blood stream bears a direct correspondence to the body's capacity to burn fat as a source of energy. It is used in the body to make carnitine - a substance that helps our cells burn fat for energy. When vitamin C is lacking, carnitine cannot do its job. The research establishes that consuming insufficient quantities of vitamin C can hamper any efforts of weight loss.

  3. Eggs: Eggs are packed with a variety of nutrients including protein, zinc, iron and vitamins A, D, E and B12, but contain just 85 calories each. Eating eggs for breakfast makes you feel fuller for longer so that you eat less at your next few meals.

  4. Fish: Fish not only keeps your heart healthy, but they shrink your waist, too. Omega-3 fatty acids improve insulin sensitivity which helps build muscle and decrease belly fat. More the muscle better is the fat burning capacity of ones body.

  5. Soybean: Soybeans contain lecithin, which help your cells not to accumulate fat. It will also break down fatty deposits in your body. Soy-derived lecithin also lowers cholesterol and triglycerides, and increases HDL ("good cholesterol").

  6. Tomatoes: Tomatoes contain oligofructose, a fiber that helps sustain the effects of Cholecystokinin (CCK) in your stomach. CCK is the hormone released by the small intestine in response to the presence of fats and helps boost the feelings of fullness by tightening the valve between your stomach and your intestine. This makes you less apt to overeat. Tomatoes are also packed with vitamin C which helps in the production of carnitine. Research has shown that carnitine can help speed the body's fat-burning capacity by up to one-third.

  7. Pomegranate (anar): Pomegranate seeds are loaded with folate and disease-fighting antioxidants. They're low in calories and high in fiber, so they satisfy your sweet tooth without blowing your diet.

  8. Cinnamon (dalchini): According to researchers at the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), consuming a quarter to one teaspoon of cinnamon a day with food can help metabolize sugar up to twenty times better than food not eaten with cinnamon. This results in less sugar in your bloodstream which means less fat stored. You can make a cinnamon tea or add it to orange juice, oatmeal, salads, etc. The active components are not destroyed by heat.

  9. Lentils: Lentils are a bona fide belly flattener. They are high in protein and soluble fiber, two nutrients that stabilize blood sugar levels.

  10. Yogurt: Eating calcium-rich fat-free yogurt can boost your body's fat-burning mechanism, speed weight loss and trim your tummy. A study done at University of Tennessee found that obese adults who ate 3 servings of fat-free yogurt a day as part of a reduced calorie diet lost 22% more weight, 61% more body fat and 81% more stomach fat than those who followed the low calorie diet without the yogurt. According to the researchers, meeting our daily calcium needs helps us burn fat more efficiently whereas not getting enough calcium triggers the release of calcitriol, a hormone that causes us to store fat.

To diet or not diet-THAT is the question!

Atkins, south beach flush, general motors diet-we've tried it all. But are these sustainable? Going on orange-juice crash diets are not the answer to health issues. If you want great skin, great hair, great nails, then this diet might just be the one for you.
The diet i'm talking about, is the gene diet, where you eat home-cooked,traditional meals, according to what your parents, grandparents consumed in their days. This diet plan is based on the theory that the body cells find it easier to digest foods they are familiar with, i.e.,they are genetically programmed to consume a certain kind of food-if you're Japanese, sauerkraut or nachos are NOT your thing. These foods are alien to your system-so it's best not to consume them[ever noticed how much weight we gain during holidays, even though we don't overeat? blame it on the exotic food].Similarly,if you're Indian, and you love Chinese food, which is seemingly "non-fatty",I'd suggest you think twice about it.The starch from the noodles and the cornflour are not the types of starch that your body can digest- ditto for white bread and sea food. That stuff may keep the Spanish and Italian ladies looking svelte, but it's foreign to our body and hence makes us gain oodles of weight.
The best form of diet for women, is : -one which is free from caffeine[seen shakira's skin? does she look like a 30+ woman?well, she is,and she is completely against tea or coffee],because caffeine totally destroys the skin,be it acne or premature signs of ageing.
-free from alcohol or cigarettes, because alcohol contains too many calories and a woman's stomach finds it tougher to tolerate alcohol than a man's.cigarettes make the skin sallow and are bad just in general.
-full of spinach.Full of iron and other minerals, spinach, broccoli and other greens are great for good skin.Make it a point to consume adequate portions of spinach every day, esp. during your period, because a lot of blood is lost at this time[every third woman has anemia, caused by iron deficiency].Bananas are great for curing period pains, and contain some great fats and vitamins which are very good for health. So don't eliminate this food from your diet because it can cure PMS better than chocolate!
-Tomatoes,especially cooked tomatoes.Eat one everyday.Tomatoes are great anti-oxidants.They slow down the process of ageing and should be consumed right after you come home from a hot day in the sun because they replenish the skin.
-Proteins should be eaten between 6:30 to 8:30 pm.This is when the stomach is best prepared to digest them.Having proteins at the right time is essential because our body cells are rebuilt by proteins[at night, usually, while we sleep], and this is how we can get better hair, skin and nails.
-avoid red meats because they are very fatty. Cheese in limited quantities is good, because 60% of the brain is made of fats, and cheese ,also containing calcium, etc.,is a healthy option,as are walnuts.
-Curd and milk are essentials.Include these in your daily diet.
-Follow the rhythmic cycles of the earth when you're eating.Eat cooling foods, fruits, and salads in summer in copious quantities,if you wish to,especially seasonal fruits and veggies, regardless of how fatty they are.If they're seasonal, then we are supposed to eat those at that time.Have lots of nuts and dry fruits in winter, because they help the body cope with heat.
-Timing is very important.Restrict your sugar intake to the morning.Don't have sweets after 5pm,and don't eat any form of carbs after 7:30pm.
-NEVER EAT BEFORE EXERCISING.there should be a two hour gap between your last meal and your workout. But you must have water before exercising, and not after,or you'll bloat.
-Drink one glass of water with every serving. Two,if you're having a big meal.Hot water helps you lose weight.
-Exercise thrice a week.Yoga and swimming are great, and so are aerobics.
